What helps us give you a straight answer
You don't need to know what's wrong or what any of it is called. A few plain details go a long way:
- What changed and when. A door that started sticking last month tells us more than a crack that's been there for 20 years.
- Where it is. Which side of the house, which room and whether it's inside, outside or both.
- What the weather's been doing. Let us know if it only shows up after heavy rain or a long dry spell.
- What's been done before. Old repair invoices, inspection reports and plumbing tests are all useful, so keep them handy.
- Photos, if you've got them. Put something for scale in the picture, like a ruler or a coin.
What happens after you send this
- We read your request and get back to you at the number you gave us to find a time.
- We confirm your address is in our area. If it isn't, we'll tell you right away.
- Someone comes out, measures what's going on and walks you through it.
- You get a written estimate if there's work to do, or a plain answer if there isn't.
If it can't wait
If part of your home looks like it could collapse, or you smell gas, get everyone out and call 911 or your gas company first. This form isn't watched like an emergency line. For a flooded basement or crawl space, stay away from standing water near wiring until the power's been shut off by someone qualified.
Questions that aren't about a repair
Use the form above for those, too, and say what it's about. That includes requests about your personal data, a copyright notice, a mistake you've found in one of our guides or a problem using the site.
